tanning favourites & tips

God daaaaaamn, i love myself a good fake tan! seriously, whats better than being tanned 24/7 ? NOTHING, keep on reading if you're interested in what my favourite tanning products are and for ways on how i apply it ...

These are my favourite favourite fake tanning products, i use them all on a rotational basis depending on the tan that i want to gain from my application.

Left to right: Models Prefer, Bondi Sands Dark Foam, Bondi Sands Dark Lotion, Le Tan Fast Tan in Deep bronze and then Silk of Morocco Daily Gradual Tan Lotion.

Models Prefer $13.99 from Priceline: I have written about this product in a previous blog post and i'm going to do it again because i seriously love this fake tan. It's super easy to apply as it is a foam and it leaves my skin so hydrated and deeply bronzed after just one application.

Bondi Sands Foam $19.99 from Priceline: This product has been one of my favourite favourites for goodness knows how long, i love this products and the fact that it is a foam makes it 100% more love able. It drys super quick and it doesn't rub off on clothing or couches or wherever you're sitting while it's developing.

Bondi Sands Lotion $19.99 from Priceline: Now, i got this product one day when i didn't have anything else and i was all out of tan... i never used it until the other week when yet again, i had run out of supplies. Do not let the lotion side of things scare you off because this is an amazing product, i put it on and straight away it was super dark and bronzy. Now yes, it did take a little longer to dry than it's buddy the foam but the end result of this lotion was really satisfying. It was darker and deeper than the foam, and it left my skin feeling glowy and hydrated. I loved the out come of this and i wouldn't hesitate to use it again, even if i had other products to use.

Le Tan Fast Tan Mouse $13.49 from Priceline: This brand was the first ever fake tanning brand i used when i was like 15, it was always one of my top 5 favourite tanning products and these are the reasons; it applies streak free, it drys super duper quick and it tans you in under 2 hours.. RESULT! fast tan, really lives up to its name. Now this tan it not a green base which makes it more of a 'organgy' tone when it's developed... i don't mean that you develop looking like an umpa lumpa it's just not as bronzed as the Bondi Sands tan. I use this for my 'oops i forgot to tan and i'm going out in 4 hours' product, its great for something quick and effective in little time!

Silk of Morocco Gradual Tan: You get what you see with this product, no hidden secrets here! This tanning product is perfect for people who want a gradual tan... nothing to out there and just a nice natural glow. People will think you've been out in the sun working on it for weeks! Haha, little do they know, you just apply it every day after your shower! sneaky gal. It leaves your feeling moisturised and later in the day you've got some extra colour to your skin! Perfect to take away on holiday with you, or to apply in the winter if you don't want to be looking super brown against most people's winter skaaaaan! I did however check their website and i couldn't find this product on there.. so i'm not quite sure if it's discontinued, keep an eye out!

Best kept secret...

Le Tan Instant Wash off tan $15.49 from Priceline: Woah woah woah, this tan is a life saver and it works a treat! This product is perfect for the times you get those last minute plans and you need an instant tan. The colour is amazing, it goes on super well and it does not rub off on anything at all.. not even whites! To remove this product you literally need to get in the shower and scrub yourself with soap, this is how safe it is. I cannot recommend this instant tan more, i love it and i use it all the time! It smells lovely to, it doesn't have that yucky fake tan smell, and when you sweat theres no way its barging either! best product ever ever ever!!

Before Tanning!

Now before i apply a tan i always always always exfoliate my skin! Not only to remove my last tan, but to remove the dead skin so that my tan lasts longer and goes on evenly and streak free!

Applying the tan

Now for all my tans including the instant tan i use a mit/glove to apply them, it is fool proof and it always makes my tans apply perfectly. It also helps keep my hand clean and tan free!

I use the loving tan mit, but they are all relatively the same! This one cost me $9.95 from my local pharmacy, you can however purchase them from the loving tan website or Priceline.

Tanning Tips

  • Exfoliate exfoliate exfoliate! Let your skin soak under warm water to soften the harder skin before exfoliating, this will make it a lot easier to get prior tan off.
  • Let the tan dry before putting on clothes (stand under a fan, or open a window)
  • Get yourself a baggy t-shirt dress or a Kaftan for the developing duration
  • Stay away from hot environments, so you don't sweat off the tan.
  • When rinsing literally just 'rinse' lightly wipe your skin with your hands and pat dry, this will still allow the tan to develop on further deep in your pores.
  • Apply your tan in a mirror, this will help you see any places you've missed or or spots that are looking a little streaky/darker.
